The Fantoma Films release of the Kenneth Anger anthology on DVD is the only video release of these films authorized by the filmmaker. Volume 2 features Anger’s most widely known and influential films, including Scorpio Rising, Invocation, and Lucifer Rising. Fantoma has meticulously restored these seminal films to pristine image quality, and included interviews and numerous extras. The booklet contains additional biographical and historical information, numerous photographs, and includes an essay by Bobby BeauSoleil on the making of the Lucifer Rising soundtrack while in prison at Tracy. For the first time ever, Anger’s vision for Lucifer Rising can be experienced with BeauSoleil’s soundtrack in its original stereo, and can also be viewed with the alternate version of the soundtrack developed from the Freedom Orchestra session tapes. Invocation may be viewed with its original synth noise soundtrack by Mick Jagger, or in the alternative, with the 1967 version of the Lucifer Rising soundtrack by BeauSoleil with the Magick Powerhouse of OZ, for an impression of what the experience of watching Lucifer Rising might have been like had the film been made in the 1960s as originally planned.
