The long-awaited deluxe edition of Bobby BeauSoleil’s soundtrack for Kenneth Anger’s legendary film Lucifer Rising has arrived, and it is everything you hoped it would be!

The first disk in this double CD package contains the final version of the soundtrack composed and performed by Bobby BeauSoleil with The Freedom Orchestra in the late 1970s, in its original extended length. The second, supplementary disk features an even earlier version of the soundtrack, one that was recorded at the Straight Theater in San Francisco in the summer of 1967. This recently rediscovered recording is the only recording ever made by The Magick Powerhouse of Oz, a group BeauSoleil assembled for the singular purpose of performing his compositions for the Lucifer Rising film project. Also included on the second disk are excerpts from recordings of two songs by The Orkustra, the band BeauSoleil was playing with when he first agreed to become involved in the project, and who he had originally wanted to perform his compositions for the soundtrack. The last track on the second disk is an alternate version of the soundtrack that BeauSoleil developed from recordings he made in the latter ‘70s, including some live concert performances by The Freedom Orchestra at Tracy Prison.

All of the recordings in the two-disk set have been faithfully restored and mastered by Robert “Bad Bob” Ferbrache, for a listening experience that far surpasses earlier releases or bootlegs of the original soundtrack.

The package includes a comprehensive 28-page booklet featuring numerous photographs, an introduction by underground filmmaker Kenneth Anger, a detailed account of the project’s tumultuous history from 1967 to the present by alter-culture and occult historian Michael Moynihan, an open letter by Bobby BeauSoleil, and additional background information from Brian Butler on locating and retrieving the long-lost recordings of The Magick Powerhouse of Oz and The Orkustra.

Arcanum Entertainment has spared no care or expense in making this release the ultimate collector’s edition of the Lucifer Rising motion picture soundtrack. Make no mistake, this is the only complete and definitive record of this historic work available, and what’s more, the only one ever offered that is authorized by both Bobby BeauSoleil and Kenneth Anger.
